Work Study: Captioning Senior Student Associate

Position Title: Captioning Senior Student Associate

Department: Libraries IT - Captioning & Transcription Service, UT Libraries

Supervisor: Daniel Jacobs

The Senior Student Associate Captioning position is responsible for video captioning and audio transcription. This provides a valuable service to the entire campus, especially for deaf and hard of hearing communities.
Training is provided. The student must be able to speak and comprehend English at an above-average fluent level and must be able to type accurately, for long periods of time.

Position is subject to renewal each semester.

Work Schedule: Flexible Work Arrangement
Duties: Create closed captions and transcripts for online course materials and other university content.
Required Qualifications: Currently-enrolled student at UT Austin. Access to a relatively modern computer and high-speed internet
Fluency in written and spoken English
Attention to detail and able to work independently
Basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications: Spanish written/reading fluency
Familiarity with closed captioning or subtitle tools

Working Conditions: Remote work. When in office, regular indoor working conditions.
Rate of Pay: $9.40/hour
