Project Coordinator

Overview


The Project Coordinator is a member of the ATCC Federal Solutions (AFS) Operations team which supports the NIAID-funded government contracts at ATCC. The project coordinator supports AFS Operations Management by carrying out projects to increase efficiency of existing processes and develop new processes based on government contract requirements, including the select agent program. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for tasks that include on-site administrative, repository and shipping activities at our Manassas, Virginia campus.
 
The Project Coordinator is responsible for supporting project and program teams in the coordination, implementation, execution, and completion of specific projects and initiatives ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals. A project coordinator understands the scope and expectations of assigned projects and has responsibilities and accountabilities related to those projects. The project coordinator will serve as a point person for assigned projects and will manage relationships internally and externally with project stakeholders. The position actively supports and complies with all ATCC corporate policies and procedures.


Responsibilities

  1. Supports project and program teams in the coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects and initiatives.
  2. Develops and maintains detailed project schedules.
  3. Coordinates and participates in Team Meetings.
  4. Files all project documents.
  5. Is responsible for tracking project changes as agreed on with management.
  6. Understands complex process flows in ATCC business environment.
  7. Translates ATCC Government Contracts business needs into analytic requirements and associated projects.
  8. Serves as a member of matrixed project teams to meet the scope, goals and needs of the projects within a determined budget.
  9. Serves as a liaison to ATCC functional departments, contractors, clients, and others for relaying requirements for design, maintenance, and enhancements of ATCC processes.
  10. Develops and uses strong skills in the use of ATCC’s ERP systems, Web Systems, Quality Documentation Systems and Project Management applications for the management of Government Contracts.
  11. Handle biological samples.
  12. Confirms incoming receipts and outgoing shipments of unique samples, and ensures materials and data are accurately entered and tracked in the ERP system.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  •  A bachelor’s degree in Biology/life sciences or related field is required. A BA/BS in science is strongly preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in a biological laboratory, biorepository, and/or data analysis is required.
  • Prior experience with an ERP system & project teams are big plus.
  •  Ability to obtain select agent clearance.
