Spring Associate - DG Development & Construction
General Description:
We are looking to hire an Intern eager to learn about and participate in the development and construction of distribution-scale (< 20 MWac) solar and storage projects across the U.S. Over the course of the internship, you’ll learn how EDPR develops and constructs rooftop, carport and ground-mount solar projects first-hand by assisting both the development and construction teams in bringing projects from concept to delivering a fully-operational asset.
You’ll learn how projects are sourced, diligenced, permitted, and financed, as well as the intricacies of construction, including pre-construction planning, contracts, procurement, scheduling, progress monitoring and documentation, safety, QA/QC and interacting with local utilities in bringing projects online. This position demands resourcefulness, tenacity, flexibility, strong communication skills, collaboration across multiple business functions within the organization and most importantly a passion for being a part of our clean energy future.
Our goal is for this candidate to gain valuable skills that form the foundation for a career in bringing renewable energy projects from concept to operation. This is a 10+ week paid internship that will start on or around January 24, 2022.
Main accountabilities:
- Evaluate inbound development leads
- Assist in preparing real estate contracts and ordering title searches
- Help maintain currency of data in EDPR’s internal project management software
- Monitor development progress of multiple projects in multiple jurisdictions
- Research applicable zoning codes/permitting bylaws
- Communicate with third-party engineers and/or permit consultants
- Pre-construction planning
- Construction field QA/QC standardization and documentation
- Project scheduling
- Assist in preparing contract documents and exhibits
- Monitor construction progress through production metrics
- Construction capex forecasts
- Support PMs with tracking contract deliverables
- Support the development of standard business processes and associated reports
- Interface with development, finance, engineering, procurement, accounting, and other stakeholders; both internally and externally
- Perform ad-hoc forward-looking analyses on performance, schedule and cost(s)
- Additional duties as required
Minimum qualifications:
- Current undergraduate (Junior or Senior) or graduate student in a management, finance, engineering and/or construction management discipline (Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical, Construction Management)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (strong background in Excel desirable)
- Other database and programming knowledge is an asset
- Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementary products preferred
- Strong problem solving and communication skills
- Some clean-energy related technological expertise helpful
- Must be a current New York State resident

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
