Assistant Director, Corporate Engagement

The Assistant Director, Corporate Engagement serves on the Institutional Giving team as part of the Philanthropy department and reports to the Director of Corporate Engagement. The Assistant Director will be responsible for building a discovery-oriented portfolio and qualifying new corporate prospects who support special events, programs and research at Fred Hutch as well as the development of strategic partnership opportunities for a portfolio of current corporate donors. Engagement and collaboration with the Institutional Giving team, as well as other teams within Philanthropy, Fred Hutch faculty, staff and leadership is expected.

Responsibilities


Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
  • Work closely with a portfolio of (~75-100) existing and prospective corporate donors to develop a strategic plan of support that optimizes their engagement and support of Fred Hutch
  • In partnership with the Director Corporate Engagement develop, manage and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies for corporate prospects capable of mid to high level gifts ($10,000+) or at lower levels as recommended by the Corporate Engagement Director, the Executive Director of Institutional Giving, and by Vice President for Philanthropy
  • Solicit and steward event sponsors emphasizing the development of customized fundraising and cultivation event sponsorship packages with the potential for multi-year and mutli-pronged engagement
  • Partner with Director Corporate Engagement and Associate Director Corporate Engagement to strategically implement employee engagement opportunities and workplace giving campaigns when appropriate
  • Build portfolio consisting of existing and prospective cause marketing corporate donors
  • Collaborate with teams across Fred Hutch to create and implement strategic campaigns to garner support to advance our corporate engagement team goals
  • Work with Corporate Engagement Coordinator to qualify new unassigned corporate donors and determine future strategies
  • Collaborate with corporate engagement and fundraising events teams to effectively engage and steward corporate event sponsors (e.g. Obliteride)
  • In collaboration with Philanthropy and other administrative units, oversee coordination and execution of appropriate Partners program benefits, recognition, stewardship and communications
  • Manage and ensure accurate corporate donor database records
  • This position does not have direct report management responsibilities

Qualifications


Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of professional nonprofit fundraising experience including solicitation of corporate gifts or similar experience in Corporate/Community Engagement in the private sector
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed fundraising goals
  • Previous experience researching and managing portfolios
  • Proficiency in writing solicitation letters, proposal materials and stewardship correspondence
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Highly developed organization and project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Commitment and ability to work on evenings and weekends

Preferred qualifications:
  • Ability to exercise professional judgment and confidentiality in working with prospects, volunteers, faculty and staff
  • Experience within a research and/or healthcare institute or educational institution desirable
  • Experience in business development and working with corporate and\or non-profit entities to identify intersecting objectives
  • Skills to represent Fred Hutch in the corporate environment and interact well with a diverse array of people from a variety of professions
  • Self-motivated, creative, and flexible
  • Experience with The Raiser’s Edge/RENXT or related fundraising software preferred
