The Center for Media Engagement is hiring an undergraduate research assistant. We’re looking for a UT Austin student with an excellent academic record, strong writing skills and an interest in the news media, democracy and communication. UGRAs collaborate with staff researchers and faculty members to research how newsrooms, social media platforms and other community organizations can help bridge gaps in our society. Ideally, we would like this student to be able to work with us in the spring, summer and fall semesters of 2022 on a project that will try to identify healthy exchanges online that support democratic norms and values. This position would be a great opportunity for anyone interested in potentially pursuing graduate school in the future. Starting Pay Rate: $11/hour
Location: The position will begin remotely and potentially transition to a hybrid model in the late spring pending developments in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Majors: Journalism, Government, Communications, Psychology, Other similar degrees in social science or the humanities
