Database Architect

Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a Database Architect to support our customers from the Department of Justice located near Washington, DC. You will be part of our growing software team designing, developing, and testing a vast array of systems.
 
You're eager to solve complex challenges, work in a fast-passed environment, and mentor junior engineers. You possess excellent communication skills as the position requires direct interaction with customer and engineer personnel of varying technical levels across different functions. The work requires the ability to take direction and operate independently as well as participate in team environments for this support effort.
 
As a Database Architect, you will be responsible for the day-to-day support activities to our DOJ client that includes:
  • Analyzing data structures, developing, and implementing a data migration strategy and tooling to support migration of the redeveloped Web SENTRY to the target cloud-based environment.
  • Creating Data Models, Database Diagrams and Data Migration Plans to AWS GovCloud
  • Providing software support throughout the lifecycle for the SENTRY software baselines.
  • Developing software that meets stakeholder(s) requirements.
  • Assisting with legacy data conversion, as needed
  • Collaborating with client technical staff, key partners, developers, product and program management
  • Working in an Agile Environment and support multiple agile teams
  • Managing and appropriately escalating data related, risks, issues, and challenges
  • Addressing any issues related to data, security and performance

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline (i.e. Computer Science or Information Systems) and 10 years’ experience or the equivalent of eighteen (18) years of a demonstrated knowledge base and subject matter expertise relevant to the job responsibilities. Experience must include:
  • Professional experience with C++ or Java Version 8
  • Familiarity with distributed version control tools (git and mercurial)
  • DB2 Database Architect (10 Years)
  • Experience with AWS native tools, Database Migration Support (DMS) and Schema Conversion Tool (SCT) Relational Database Service (RDS) and Amazon Aurora.
  • Use of specialized tools from Astadia such as TestMatch, DataMatch and DataTurn to automate database migration and testing.
  • Modernization experience, complex environments, high availability and secure environments (highly regulated)
  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. citizenship required.
  • Requires the ability to pass the Federal Bureau of Prisons Employment Eligibility verification process prior to start.
 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with lifecycle management tools (e.g. codeBeamer)
  • Familiarity with DevOps pipelines (i.e. Jenkins)
  • Familiarity with static code analysis tools (e.g. SonarQube, Fortify)
