Strategic Initiatives Intern

LCRA’s Strategic Initiatives and Transformation team is looking for a graduate student who is passionate about the energy sector and is looking for real-word experience on a corporate strategy team. We are looking for an individual who is interested in supporting the selection and execution of company-wide strategic initiatives and transformational efforts to achieve LCRA’s vision and goals.
You will be expected to provide support in the form of market research, quantitative analysis, strategic recommendations, and thought leadership to high impact cross-functional projects and initiatives. This includes business growth areas; emerging technologies such as battery storage, distributed energy resources, blockchain, mobile workforce, and wireless sensors; employee engagement and return to work strategies; organizational change management; and use cases for data.

You will be trusted to:
  • Apply business strategy tools and frameworks to solve business problems. 
  • Create financial models and market forecasts. 
  • Assist with ad hoc strategic, business development, or research-based inquiries such as performing quantitative or economic analysis, creating presentation materials, performing industry or market research, and monitoring and evaluating utility industry trends and best practices. 
  • Use data to validate strategic assumptions, solve problems, and quantify impact to the business.
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of change management plans that maximize employee adoption and usage and minimize resistance to new efforts. 
  • Review the enterprise project portfolio to track alignment to and investment in our strategic vision. 
  • Help create surveys, evaluate organizational capabilities and competencies, and create and improve project workflows.
