The Garris Lab in the Center for Systems Biology at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School (https://csb.mgh.harvard.edu/garris ) is looking for an exceptional research technician who desires a background in cancer immunology and dendritic cell biology. Ideal candidates should have a strong interest in immunology, some background in biological research, and be quick to learn. As a lab, we are interested in the factors that determine tumor recognition by the immune system. We study the dendritic cell, which gets the “ball rolling” on anti-tumor immune responses, and how these cells can be modulated to enhance anti-tumor immunity. Responsibilities: The research technician will design and execute laboratory research in support of the lab’s mission to investigate immune mechanisms of tumor rejection. Tasks include mouse colony management, in vivo tumor growth studies, flow cytometry, cell tissue culture, imaging, and assay design. Creative thinkers who are willing to take risks and define important unmet problems in cancer research are encouraged to apply. Candidates will receive a high degree of hands on mentoring, and will be encouraged to seek higher education opportunities.
Requirements: This position has a 2 year minimum commitment. A B.S./B.A. is required, with experience in immunology or cancer biology preferred. This position is full time.
