Staff 3D Modeling Algorithm Engineer

The Computer Vision and Remote Sensing Software Group at Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is looking for applied scientists and engineers to join our team operating at the forefront of Computer Vision technology applied to satellite imagery. In this role you will work in a team-oriented environment with other algorithm developers, applied scientists, and software developers to produce cutting-edge software that uses satellite imagery to automatically create realistic, textured 3D geometric models of real-world scenes including models of individual buildings, roads, and other urban and rural features.

Staff 3D Modeling Algorithm Engineer Qualifications:
  • US citizenship required (green card holders are not eligible for this position)
  • Eligibility to apply for and hold a U.S. security clearance (selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements at the time of employment)
  • Strong background in data structures for geometry representation such as indexed meshes and other boundary representations, voxel grids, and other implicit field representations
  • Experience with geometry interrogation techniques such as ray tracing, volume computation, and constructive solid geometry operations
  • Solid mathematical background in linear algebra including affine or rigid body coordinate system transformation hierarchies
  • Familiar with geometric construction techniques such as semantic parameterization or shape grammars for procedural geometry, level set methods for gridded representations
  • Programming experience in Python and/or C++
  • Team player able to communicate technical results effectively to others

Staff 3D Modeling Algorithm Engineer Education and Experience Qualifications:
  • M.S. Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical field with at least 1 year of relevant work experience or Ph.D. graduate
