Senior Scientist Molecular Biology & Discovery

Position Summary:
Invenra is seeking an enthusiastic Senior Scientist with a strong background in cutting-edge Molecular Biology and antibody library building. As part of the Discovery group, the successful applicant will work cross-functionally with Discovery and Protein Engineering to improve our process and throughput, develop next generation libraries, and continually improve our bispecific platform. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and perform molecular biology experiments, oversee their execution, and interpret/communicate results effectively to the team in meetings.
  • Actively involved in optimizing nucleic acid manipulation from single cells in collaboration with our innovation team.
  • Perform laboratory procedures following SOPs that includes DNA extraction, cloning, mRNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, PCR and Next Generation Sequencing.
  • Coordinate molecular biology research activities with scientists specializing in other fields (Cell Biology and Protein Engineering).
  • Support the development, application, and optimization of DNA constructs for genetic modification of cell lines.
  • Evaluates new molecular biology technologies to enhance or complement our current research.
  • Maintain laboratory notebooks and assist in drafting SOPs and preparing workplans, reports, manuscripts, and presentations.

Required Education, Experience, and Competencies:
  • M.S., or Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, immunology, or related area AND 3+ year experience (M.S.) or 10+ years’ experience (B.S.) in relevant industrial or academic laboratory.
  • Experience developing/optimizing protocols for nucleic acid cloning, amplification, modification, and expression analysis.
  • Working knowledge of vector design for gene expression, genetic reporter systems and genome engineering applications – background in phage/yeast display biology will be considered as a plus.
  • Experience optimizing/developing protocols for DNA assembly and library constructions for applications such as protein engineering, mRNA and/or phage display is a plus. 
  • Basic knowledge of the DNA analysis software such as SnapGene is a plus.
  • Some Familiarity with stem cell tissue culture and phage and yeast display platforms is a plus.
  • Experience in ddPCR or other emulsion-based strategies is a plus
  • Experience building and running selections on biomolecular libraries.
  • Proven ability to design well-controlled experiments.
  • Strong team player with good communication skills.
 
Preferred but not required:
  • General knowledge of immunology and antibody structure-function relationship is a plus.
