Electrical Engineer, Analog/RF, Beam Instrumentation
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design and development of new beam instrumentation system designs and upgrades as required to satisfy operational requirements of the existing collider-accelerator complex and future EIC, such as beam position monitors, beam current and charge monitors, beam profile monitors, and beam loss monitors
- Provide operational support of beam instrumentation systems throughout the collider-accelerator complex
- Work closely with technicians and other engineers to complete assignments
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or closely related field
- Familiarity with electronic test equipment including function generators, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication and good interpersonal skills are required to interact with a diverse group of scientists and technical staff
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of RF and analog circuit design, amplifiers, digitizers, digital filter design in gate arrays, and feedback control systems
- Project experience obtained from previous employment, internships or design projects in regular coursework
- Knowledge of analog design simulation tools, MATLAB, LabVIEW
- Knowledge of computer programming languages such as C/C++, Perl, Python
- Knowledge of FPGAs and VHDL
- Knowledge of Linux operating system and Microsoft Office applications
Environmental, Health & Safety Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs
- Must be able to work at heights of up to five (5) feet
