Responsibilities

 
  • Development of organization Environmental, Safety, Health, and Security programs; engaging and involving all workers to understand and employ safety, environmental and security policies and programs.
  • Lead the development of risk assessment methods/systems for anticipating, identifying, evaluating, and reducing hazards.
  • Develop and implement EHS training systems to meet facility needs, compliance requirements and develop safety competencies. Ensure all safety, OSHA, DOT, and HAZPOWER training is completed and documented.
  • Manage and allocate resources to lead and support the safety systems.
  • Develop and track safety KPI’s and provide recommendations and execution to address key priority issues in the facility.
  • Engage and interact with work teams to ensure the completion of incident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Create, audit, and implement necessary programs and projects across the site in support of permitting & compliance (i.e., OSHA, EPA, site/occupancy planning, chemical storage, noise surveying, air quality, wastewater discharge, etc.)
  • Involved in chemical and hazardous materials management programs, i.e., Process Safety Management, etc.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all Local, State, and Federal EH&S related officials.
  • Inspect facility and all production areas for compliance with OSHA, EPA, and fire codes.
  • Review and update plant contingency and emergency response/evacuation plan, safety manual, hazardous material management plan, and emergency contact lists.
  • Oversee raw material SDS maintenance for the facility and ensure materials are up to date and accurate
  • Work with Maintenance team to ensure all facility sprinkler and alarm system inspections are completed.
  • Manage all facility waste disposal (hazardous, non-hazardous & wastewater) and prepare TCEQ annual waste summary, source reduction pollution prevention plan.
  • Manage TCEQ voluntary cleanup program.
  • Prepare EPA 312 Tier Two and 313 Form R reports and SPCC plan.
  • Ensure all facility fire protection and pollution permits are completed.
  • Provide emergency contact support to Chemtrec and respond to facility fire alarms. 
  • Maintain all plant safety (PPE) and fire protection equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Chemical, Environmental Engineering / Science or related field preferred.
  • 5-7 years of EHS experience with progressive work assignments in a chemical manufacturing environment. Advanced professional EHS certification (CSP, CIH, CHMM, QEP, CEA, REM, etc.) desired. Industrial safety and occupational EHS, with a focus on Environmental leadership, preferred.
  • Strong leadership, managerial, facilitation, training, and mentoring skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of regulatory requirements and EHS policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Experience in life safety codes: EHS rules, HAZOP, training, principles of occupational safety and health, and Industrial hygiene.
  • Strong Project Management and Problem Resolution skills.
  • Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office and function-specific software.
  • A demonstrated record of strong people management, change management, strategic thinking, planning and organizing, decision making, risk-taking, and communication skills.
  • Hands-on and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and prioritize duties to meet deadlines.
  • High energy and superb communication skills with the ability to propose value propositions to our internal and external customers. Ability to work with all levels, from corporate to field employees, to mobilize the workforce.
  • Strong follow-through skills to close leads and action items.
