Cytokinetics is a late-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing and commercializing first-in-class muscle activators and next-in-class muscle inhibitors as potential treatments for debilitating diseases in which muscle performance is compromised and/or declining. As a leader in muscle biology and the mechanics of muscle performance, the company is developing small molecule drug candidates specifically engineered to impact muscle function and contractility. We take a purpose-driven approach by leveraging our unique muscle biology expertise to engineer compounds with specific characteristics aimed at treating diseases that impact muscle function, like heart failure, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, ALS and SMA.

This is a paid internship at our South San Francisco headquarters. The program is for approximately 10-12 weeks beginning in late May/early June.
 
 
Job Description:
 
The intern will work closely with and report to the Senior Vice President of Business Development and will be a key member on a team focused on business development and alliance management activities to build value through strategic alliances and licensing transactions.
 
The responsibilities for this position involve contributing to cross-functional work in close coordination with key senior staff and consultants (e.g., within Business Development and Alliance Management, Commercial Development, Intellectual Property and Legal Affairs, Finance, Project Management and R&D). 
 
This individual will:
·      Serve on the team responsible for identifying, evaluating, negotiating, and executing new strategic alliances and/or licensing transactions
·      Support initiatives to enhance alliance management capabilities
·      Contribute to Cytokinetics’ strategic planning process and
·      Generate and deliver impactful presentations to senior management and key decision-makers
 
Requirements:
·      Open to all levels of experience (high school, college, graduate), with scope of responsibilities tailored accordingly.
·      Positive attitude, attention to detail and interest in helping others.
·      Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
·      Technical ability to understand pipeline/portfolio at the company and potential partners.
·      Excellent analytical capabilities.
·      Ability to summarize or simplify complex concepts in words and graphics and to “think on your feet.”
