Senior Telecommunications Coordinator

A Senior Telecommunications Coordinator in the Telecommunications Department is open for placement. This one position could be filled at a Telecommunications Coordinator or Senior Telecommunications Coordinator level based on the applicant's education and experience, see the Qualifications section for additional requirements.
SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Senior Manager, Information & Security, the Telecommunications & Senior Telecommunications Coordinators plan, design, deploy and manage projects related to WFEC's telecommunications and digital network infrastructure and its' associated software. The incumbent plans, specifies, implements, coordinates and documents major communication projects and systems owned and operated by WFEC. The incumbent also develops and coordinates shared communications agreements with interconnected utilities. In addition, the incumbent serves as a subject matter expert to all departments and WFEC's member owners on issues related to the systems under the purview of this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Plans, implements, coordinates and documents major microwave communication systems and serves as the primary technical expert for the maintenance, expansion, and enhancement of WFEC's digital microwave system, preparing and presenting documents and training as needed, and assisting other individuals and departments with technical expertise. Serves as the primary subject matter expert on digital communication and data transportation. Assists WFEC management in the planning for the future communication needs of the Cooperative. Serves as the primary designer and project manager of modifications and additions to WFEC's network and telecommunications assets. Designs and documents complex communication system modifications and enhancements and manages communications projects. Develops and coordinates shared communication agreements with interconnected utilities. Maintains updated and advanced understanding of applicable law, WFEC policies, electronic hardware and telecommunications system functionality pertaining to WFEC's communication assets and their operational systems interface and uses knowledge to assist others with issues and to support the primary and secondary business functions of WFEC. Performs path analysis and path design for very high frequency (VHF), ultrahigh frequency (UHF), microwave and other radio frequency (RF) technologies and coverage modeling. Displays and maintains advanced knowledge of internet protocol (IP) networking. Performs and presents cost-benefit analysis of proposed projects to utilize capabilities of the microwave system. Coordinates work to minimize the disruption of critical operational communications. Acquires and maintains the necessary licenses and permits as required to operate WFEC's communications systems and monitors changes in the law which may affect the operation and licensing requirements of these systems. Maintains accurate and accessible documentation of all aspects of WFEC's communication assets.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors required of this position.
Education and Experience:
Telecommunications Coordinator - ($84,187 - $131,954) A Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of directly related experience in digital networking, computing or telecommunications is required. Knowledge of digital networking and communications and a comprehensive understanding of project management is also required.
Senior Telecommunications Coordinator - ($92,405 - $146,368) - A Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years of directly related experience in digital networking, computing or telecommunications is required. Directly related experience may be substituted for formal education at the rate of two (2) years of experience for one (1) year of education. An extensive, state-of-the-art knowledge of all aspects of digital networking and communications and a comprehensive understanding of project management is also required.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions form management, customers, and team members.
Math Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply advanced mathematical operations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Ability to use a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Projects, and Power Point. Ability to apply advanced computing skills and software knowledge to complex problems.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: This position requires a current driver's license.
WORK SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: This position normally works a weekday schedule, but may be required to work evenings, holidays, or weekends, and may be required to travel on short notice.
