Summer Associate- DG Business Development

General Description

Distributed Generation, a part of EDP Renewables North America, is looking for a Business Development summer associate.

This is a 10+ week paid internship that will start on or around June 06, 2022.

Main accountabilities:

  • Conduct research on solar regulations in various states and utility territories to understand new and emerging solar markets
  • Work closely with the Origination team to seek out new customers
  • Evaluate potential sites for solar development using parcel data, USGS topo maps, Google Earth, and other platforms
  • Work in Helioscope or PVSyst to develop initial solar designs
  • Assist in the development of a unique financial model for each customer, using state-specific data and inputs
  • Utilize Helioscope design and customer electric usage and billing data to develop a savings analysis
  • Develop creative slide deck proposals to share with potential customers
  • Contribute to responding to Request for Proposals in a timely manner
  • Communicate daily with critical internal teams
  • Manage time and shifting priorities among active opportunities

Minimum qualifications:

  • Excellent quantitative analytical and research skills
  • Advanced Excel functionality
  • Experience in Helioscope or PVSyst a plus
  • Excellent writing and communication skills – you are responsive and work well with others to solve problems
  • Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products preferred.
  • Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise preferred

Physical Demands & Working Conditions: 

  • Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment
  • Speech/Reading:  Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds
  • Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
