Our New Jersey site specializes in small molecule bioanalytical, drug metabolism, and pharmacokinetic services to the pharmaceutical, animal health and agrochemical industries.
We are seeking a Scientist I within our DMPK Group - Large Molecule Bioanalysis located in Cranbury, NJ.
Responsibilities
Job Summary:
With supervision, the Scientist I will have increasing responsibilities as an Analyst, Study Director/Principal Investigator in Non-GLP Large molecule bioanalytical projects, including, but not limited to the method development, method validation/qualification, sample analysis, and report writing. The individual needs to be able to perform LBA, qPCR, cell culture and clinical chemistry and related techniques; troubleshoots assay issues and communicates with clients in support of discovery and development programs in the area of DMPK. He/she is accountable for accurate data submission and on time delivery of assigned projects.
Essential Job Functions:
- Independently performs routine laboratory techniques, calculations, and procedures.
- Conducting PK, PD sample analysis in variety of biological matrices, including but not limited to stock solution preparation, sample analysis and report writing.
- Has a full understanding of the study and method; troubleshoots unexpected results.
- Receives specific instructions on assigned task and delivers accurate results within or ahead of the expected timeframe.
- Calibrates, maintains and operates equipment to acquire experimental data.
- Maintains ELN and experimental documents in a well-organized manner. All necessary documentation should be recorded.
- Performs and reviews routine and complex calculations, tabulates and records results. Prepares accurate data summaries with supervision.
- Assumes responsibility for technical accuracy of work. Prepares accurate reports of scientific experiments with supervision.
- Follow and adhere to nonGLP guidelines/SOPs consistent with WuXi AppTec requirement
- Promotes implementation and compliance with WuXi AppTec, Inc. safety policies, practices, and procedures in order to maintain a safe work environment and minimize or eliminate injury.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience / Education:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry or Pharmacology
- Bachelor’s degree with >5 years related experience, or Master's degree with >3 years related experience.
- Any similar combination of education and experience.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within biological or chemical R&D laboratory setting
- Skill and knowledge in molecular biology and biochemistry with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in performing plate-based assays.
- Has developed broad proficiency in scientific discipline and demonstrates a solid understanding of experiments relevant to specific job responsibility
- Hands on experience in LBA, DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, cell culture and other related biochemistry and cell biology techniques
- Knowledge of internet search, MS word, Excel, Outlook, Prism and PowerPoint
- Increased understanding of relevant technical aspects as well as literature and data base searching
- Collaboratively researches and proposes methodologies for project
- Well organized, detail oriented, and adaptable to changes
- Good time management skill in order to perform of multiple projects within deadlines. Ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritize workload and manage changes in direction.
- Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in an office environment with minimal noise conditions.
- Must be able to work in Lab setting with exposure to Animals/biohazards / Chemicals
- Must not have animal allergies to applicable species in this facility
- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
- Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels
- Ability to stand /sit for long periods of time
- Ability to crouch, bend, twist, and reach
