A full-time position is available as a research assistant in studies that develop and use genetically encoded fluorescent voltage indicators in nerve cells in various model systems at The John B. Pierce Laboratory, a nonprofit scientific research institute affiliated with Yale University. The Pierce Laboratory provides excellent benefits with employer paid health insurance and free parking.

We are seeking a highly motivated person capable of working both independently and as a member of the team. The projects in the lab are based on use of cell culture and molecular biology techniques. Experience with molecular biology techniques such as DNA purification, DNA gel electrophoresis, PCR, and bacterial cultures is required. Experience with aseptic technique for maintenance of mammalian cultures is an advantage. The lab duties also include assistance with organization and maintenance of experimental infrastructure (upkeep of lab stocks, placing orders, etc.).

REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least a bachelor degree in one of the biological sciences (i.e., Molecular Biology, Biochemistry) and laboratory experience beyond the classroom (e.g. part-time or full-time job). The candidate should also have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
