People Support Specialist

About the opportunity

At SWCA Environmental Consultants, we are looking for a People Support Specialist to assume a wide range of professional and administrative responsibilities in working closely with HR management to support SWCA’s approximately 1000 full time, part time, temporary and seasonal employees. The position will be 100% remote, from a home office. 
 
The People Support Specialist will focus on providing excellent ‘internal customer service’ support. The goal is to ensure the HR department’s operations run smoothly and effectively to deliver maximum value to the organization and all team members.

What you will accomplish

  • Assist with compliance regarding employer regulations
  • Partner with talent acquisition on background screenings
  • Workers compensation intake and employee support
  • Take the lead on the 'leave of absence' process
  • Lead the drug/alcohol testing
  • Analyze facts, exercise sound judgment, and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions
  • Highly customer service oriented with a strong motivation to go the extra mile for employees
  • Demonstrated ability to act with integrity and respect at all times and in all situations, ensuring compliance with all regulations, company standards and policies
  • Ability to build credibility and inspire confidence at all levels of the organization; maintain a fair and impartial attitude
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information with tact and discretion
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize
  • Excellent verbal communications, written communications and listening skills

Experience and qualifications for success

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Administrative support of HR related functions or an HR team
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and ability to gain proficiency in other technology systems quickly
Preferred: 
  • Experience with all Leaves of Absence, including FMLA; provide support to employees and company management in this area and resolve any issues that may arise
  • Previous oversight of occupational injuries and Workers’ Compensation claims
  • Prior of support of background checks
