Ramboll is seeking motivated and inquisitive candidates to join our Syracuse, NY office as a Drafting Engineer (entry-level). We invite you to bring your engineering background into play as you support our Environment & Health Brand by providing drafting and computer-assisted design (CAD) support to environmental remediation projects in the design, construction, and monitoring phases. The ideal candidate will have an interest in and experience with environmental remediation, sustainability, and construction administration to support civil and environmental engineering design projects. You will join our Environment & Health division
As our new Design Engineer, you will be part of Syracuse’s ambitious, diverse, creative, and collaborative investigation and remediation team. As you work on challenging projects, you will be given increasing responsibility – while also being able to rely on experienced managers and colleagues to offer support and a helping hand as you learn and develop in your role. You will have opportunities to collaborate with design and construction professionals in all the Ramboll business units and organizations in the Americas and globally, including Environment & Health, Water, and Energy.
Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Preparing engineering and construction drawings, under direct supervision, for all phases of a project, utilizing Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD Civil 3D software
  • Adherence to the policies and standards set forth in the firm’s quality management system, including Ramboll drafting standards and specific client or industry standards
  • Participation in the Ramboll CAD/BIM Coordinator Certification program
  • Acting as CAD/ BIM Coordinator on selected projects
  • Reviewing vendor drawings/submittals to confirm compliance with Contract Documents
  • Actively participating in creating a safety culture in the office and in the field
  • Consistently utilizing sound judgement and discretion in performance of job functions
  • Analyzing survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photographs, geotechnical data and other information to plan projects of routine to average complexity
  • Developing design deliverables for review by engineering staff 
  • Performing tasks which require the application of fundamental engineering concepts and mathematical formulas, under direct supervision of engineering staff. These assignments may include performing necessary calculations using accepted formulas and references, as well as developing and detailing simple and complex design elements.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or other relevant engineering discipline) and one to three years of relevant experience working in the engineering/design field
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including experience with civil and general site layout, utility design, earthwork calculations, and surfaces a plus
  • Familiarity and experience with Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis, Revit and BIM 360 a plus
  • OSHA 40-hour training and up to date 8-hour refresher or ability to obtain 
  • Engineer-in-Training certification or ability to obtain preferred
  • Willingness to grow and learn new market sectors and areas where you lack experience.
