Amazon Robotics System Development Engineer - New Grad 2022

Amazon Robotics is located in the greater Boston area, the epicenter of robotics innovation. Our diverse team of engineers come from all over the world to design, test and build our dynamic fleet of robots and mechatronic systems. This allows us to innovate quickly and on limitless ideas. Current advancements are underway in autonomous movement and mobility, artificial intelligence and machine learning, manipulation, simulation, robotic management software, predictive analytics, and much more.

We are looking for a Systems Development Engineer who will actively support and foster a culture of inclusion and be a key contributor to designing, developing and supporting our complex infrastructure environment across a diverse set of technologies and applications. This role will provide exposure to cutting edge technology including an ecosystem of robotics, industrial IoT, sensors, drones, and mobile devices. The right candidate will be able to identify and resolve issues, automate processes, maintain service infrastructure, and work closely with cross departmental teams to achieve business objectives while ensuring platform security, reliability, and supportability. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Windows, Linux and cloud platforms such as AWS, preferably in large scale, distributed environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Actively support and foster a culture of inclusion
  • Participate in on call rotation for infrastructure related coverage
  • Implement and manage business process automation platforms
  • Design, configure, and implement process and platforms that meet or exceed business requirements
  • Provide troubleshooting and problem solving for platform and application issues
  • Deliver OS patching in addition to platform and application updates
  • Setup and maintain automated solutions for testing, alerting and monitoring
  • Create and maintain deployments for platform management/administration automation with scripting in Perl, Python, JAVA, etc.
  • Mentor others in technical understanding of infrastructure and platform operations



Basic qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Masters in Robotics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • Experience with Linux and Windows server administration
  • Experience working within virtualization or cloud environments
  • Systems engineering experience
  • Systems management/administration automation in Perl, Python, JAVA or similar technologies

Preferred qualifications:
  • Previous internship or work experience working on large-scale distributed systems
  • Experience with AWS services such as: VPC, EC2, S3, RDS and SES/SMTP on production workloads
  • Experience using, designing, and/or implementing system health and performance monitoring tools
  • Experience with security concepts such as: network security, application security, security protocols, cryptography, etc.
  • Experience using Agile software development practices
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Experience using, implementing or managing configuration management platforms
  • Dec. 2021 grad, May/June 2022 grad, or earlier
