Cactus Café Student Assistant- University Unions (open to work study and non-work study)

*Work Study and regular part-time undergraduate student employment is available for this role*

Start Date: Spring 2022
 
This position assists with all aspects related to Cactus Café operations, such as bartending services and general counter assistance, door management, ticketing services, crowd oversight and events management.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Use a cash register to sell soft drinks, alcohol, and food products.
  • Prepare drinks.
  • Ensure efficient service to customers and patrons.
  • Keep the bar and surrounding area neat and clean.
  • Monitor the front door entrance during events; take tickets and perform crowd control as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Friendly, responsible, independent worker with excellent customer service skills.
  • Past bar tending or counter experience is helpful.
  • Cash handling experience.
  • Experience in a food service operation.
  • Bar experience during night and happy-hour shifts.
  • Must like music and be willing to work with bands and performers.
  • Must be punctual.
  • Must be good with math.
  • Must get TABC certified.
 
In addition to the requirements for the position, you must meet the following requirements to be considered for all positions in the University Unions:

  • Be a current student at The University of Texas at Austin or other college/university and be registered for at least six (6) credit hours.
