Wetland Scientist / Ecologist II

Do you want to be part of a team whose talent and dedication are unmatched in the industry? RES is seeking a Wetland Scientist in their Louisville or Frankfort, Kentucky office to join their wetland and ecological assessment team.
 

Responsibilities

This position requires two to five years of experience with wetland/stream delineation and permitting, habitat surveys, or related field assessment and reporting skills.
Candidate must possess good field assessment, data management, technical writing, and oral communication skills, as well as being well versed in computer applications.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • BS in an environmental science field such as, but not limited to, ecology, wetland science, aquatic biology, botany, wildlife biology, fisheries, soils, hydrology, etc
  • 2 to 5 years experience in the ecological profession
  • Experience performing wetland delineations, endangered species, and habitat surveys, and stream determinations
  • Experience managing field data and preparing related summary reports and permit documents
  • Excellent writing, communication, and computer skills (MS Word, Excel, and/or Powerpoint)
  • Ability to work both independently and direct project teams
  • Ability to work long hours outside
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Willingness to travel several days consecutively per month out of town
  • Flexible working style to manage unexpected schedule and task changes
  • Positive attitude and team-centered approach to problem-solving
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS in an applicable environmental science field
  • Strong working knowledge of plant identification and vegetation surveys
  • Experience with GPS and/or various survey equipment
  • Experience with GIS and/or CAD
  • Certifications such as Professional Wetland Scientist or permits for endangered species collection
  • Experience working with federal and state resource and regulatory agency personnel and various permitting processes
