CAD Technician

The CAD Survey Technician operates Computer Aided Design (CAD) computer system, including creating, updating and modifying maps, and performs manual drafting. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with survey data, Civil 3D, and oil and gas or electric utilities industries. 
 
NOTE: This is a remote, work from home position.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Requires application of well-developed technical knowledge in planning, conducting, and coordinating difficult assignments. 
  • Considered an expert within the CAD discipline, especially Civil 3D 
  • Requires the modification of established guidelines and initiation of new approaches.
  • Makes independent decisions in planning, organizing, and completing technical assignments.  
  • Processing, organizing, coordinating, and advising on a broad range of project assignments requiring knowledge of surveying/mapping/data systems/networks
  • Supports the field surveying, mapping, and document deliverables for agency submittals
  • Uses various databases in processing field data.
  • Processing and managing point cloud data files.
  • Maintains and manages field survey data systems together with local and wide network operating systems.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • Minimum of High School Diploma with bachelor’s degree preferred or completion of a technical trade school in CAD, drafting or related field, plus at least two years of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Must have a strong background in field survey data management systems and network operating systems management as well as fundamentals of desktop support and management to include upgrade maintenance and problem resolution
  • Alignment/plan and profile knowledge is required
  • Field knowledge and oil and gas experience is a big plus!
  • Proficiency with Trimble Business Center (TBC) is a plus
  • Must have strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
