Early Career Scientists and Engineers at D. E. Shaw Research: Computational Biochemistry Research Group

D. E. Shaw Research seeks early career researchers from a range of scientific disciplines to join our New York–based research group pursuing an ambitious, long-term project aimed at fundamentally transforming the process of drug discovery.

As a member of our highly interdisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to make groundbreaking contributions within the fields of biology, chemistry, and medicine. You will work closely with a team of the world’s leading biologists, chemists, and computer scientists on projects including applying molecular dynamics simulations to study the structure and function of particular proteins or to conduct drug discovery research, developing simulation methods or the underlying physical models for our simulations, and applying machine learning techniques to our areas of research.

We value creativity and innovation, and we look for intellectually curious and versatile individuals with the capacity to undertake challenging and original research projects. If you have strong quantitative abilities, excellent communication skills, and a bachelor's or master's degree in the natural sciences and/or engineering with an impressive record of achievement (in academia or elsewhere), then this could be an exciting next step in your scientific career.

Our group is developing multiple generations of a specialized supercomputer, ANTON®, which executes molecular dynamics simulations orders of magnitude faster than was previously possible. Our simulations have shed new light on biomolecular phenomena such as protein folding, protein dynamics, and protein-drug interactions.

We take great pride in the caliber of our team, and we offer above-market compensation. We also provide generous relocation and immigration assistance to new hires.
