We currently have openings for a Database Engineer. In this position you will work with our utility customers and the OSI project delivery teams to facilitate, design, and develop data conversion and reporting processes and tools as part of the overall deployment of customer systems and solutions. Specific on-the-job training will be provided. As a Project Delivery Database Engineer your responsibilities will include:
  • Creation, maintenance, and training for database sizing tools/estimators
  • Development of customer-facing workshop and training material on the nature of various OSI application databases and their use by customers
  • Leading workshops with OSI customers to: explain aspects of OSI application databases; conduct discovery of their reporting needs; and design solutions to meet their reporting needs
  • Learning and using OSI report-building tools and training customers on their use
  • Designing and executing data conversion projects (e.g., from a 3rd-party legacy application database into an OSI application database)
  • Working with the project delivery and product development teams to troubleshoot and diagnose database-related issues (both in-house and as part of customer projects when needed)
  • Providing insights and guidance for improvements and optimizations for consideration as part of product roadmaps

 

Requirements

  • Familiarity with relational (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra) Database technologies
  • Programming languages
  • Query languages
  • Optimizer
  • Experience navigating and understanding Logical and Physical Data models
  • Ability to understand highly complex multi-threaded applications and how those applications interact with the data tier
  • Experience with scripting languages
  • Shell
  • Python
  • Analytical ability to work with data and present results
  • Strong knowledge of business process, data or information management, data flows, and data quality standards
  • Experience with enterprise level reporting, business intelligence (BI) and analytics toolsets
  • Comfortable working with both Linux and Windows systems, in both physical and virtual environments
  • Ability to drive data conversion and system integration projects for our customers. Heavy emphasis on system and data analysis, data-mapping techniques, and toolset choices for implementing conversion processes.
  • Comfortable working with system APIs and interfaces (REST, SOAP, file, realtime, batch)
  • Systems analysis, database concepts and systems design
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail, preferably working on data management and/or data integration projects
  • 3-10 years of relevant working experience
  • Bachelors in computer science, computer engineering or data related degree from an accredited college/university
