We are currently seeking a Scientist for our Polymer Science & Materials Chemistry Practice in Shanghai China. In this role you will work as part of a team to  brainstorm and innovate solving real world industrial problems. The role involves extensive collaboration with scientists and engineers across Exponent’s global network of offices. We expect the position to be a great opportunity for candidates to apply their expertise built through advanced studies. A long-term goal for successful candidates is to build their own expertise in an industrial field, as well as to generate and develop unique business opportunities for the Firm.
 
You will be responsible for: 

  • Analyzing scientific information, testing and inspections to address polymer and material science matters related to the use of materials in applications in areas such as consumer products, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices
  • Analyzing the root cause of a wide variety of polymeric material failures related to issues arising in development, manufacturing, or use of products 
  • Writing technical reports and written analysis for litigation matters
  • Gathering and researching information from and conveying technical conclusions to professionals in engineering, business, law, and industry

You will have the following skills and qualifications: 

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science and Engineering
  • Written and verbal fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese
  • Ability to clearly communicate findings through written reports and presentations
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work within and contribute to project teams 
  • Potential for technical and project managerial leadership
  • Must be able to convey complex technical information to individuals in engineering, business, legal and related industries
  • Superior problem-solving abilities
  • Strong educational and publication credentials
  • Relocation to China
