Engineer/Associate - Buildings and Structures (3448)

Exponent's Buildings and Structures Practice is searching for an Engineer/Associate in our Menlo Park, CA office. This position will be responsible for performing tasks and executing projects related primarily to evaluation of building component and material failures, with particular emphasis on concrete and other cement-based materials. Applicant will have the opportunity to work on a variety of diverse and interesting civil engineering projects that will challenge their problem-solving skills. Applicant will also have the opportunity to work and collaborate on projects with Exponent professionals practicing in the other 90+ technical disciplines within the company; some of these projects are outside of the traditional civil engineering area.

Specific responsibilities will include conducting field inspections and determining the root causes of failures including laboratory testing and analyses. Assignments will require the ability to gather information and convey complex technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and industry.

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Ph.D. in Civil/Structural Engineering with graduate level focus on concrete and cementitious materials
  • Excellent and creative problem solving ability
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as lead and work in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong desire to work in a fast-paced consulting environment
