The Communications Intern Position

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and talented student to join Sunnova’s Communications Team. The Communications Intern will work with the team to create and develop content for social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter), newsletters, and general company messaging for internal and external stakeholders.
This role will provide the opportunity to gain experience in social media strategy, executive communications, Sunnova employee culture and engagement, media relations, and community relations.

Communications Intern Responsibilities

·        Reviews and recommends trends, content, and strategies for social media platforms
·        Collaborates with the Social Media Manager to help plan and execute content for social media platforms: LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter
·        Collaborates with the Social Media Manager to create social media content for executive communications, employee culture and engagement
·        Collaborates with the Media Relations Manager to assist with internal newsletters
·        Collaborates with the Communications Associate to assist with community relations initiatives
·        “Shadows” Communications’ team members to learn more about various Communications activities and pitches in to help with other projects and activities
 

Minimum Requirements

·        Field of study: Communications, Public Relations, Marketing (BS or Masters) or similar
·        Must be a “hands-on” problem solver
·        Possess both creative and journalistic writing skills and experiences
·        Demonstrates competence with a variety of social media platforms, including LinkedIn (organic), Facebook (organic), and Twitter (organic and paid), Hootsuite certification or experience, preferred but not necessary
·        Possess genuine curiosity and strong active listening skills needed for crafting a good story
·        Excels at working on multiple projects and meeting deadlines
·        Possess basic-to-intermediate design skills and has a natural eye for good design
·        Strong organization and communication, both verbal and written
·        Ethical team player, maintains highest degree of integrity
 

Preferred Qualifications

·        Undergraduate student in at least their second semester of sophomore year

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·        Must be available to work 12-15 hours during normal business hours throughout the work week (8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday)
·        Strongly preferred: An undergraduate student in their second semester of sophomore year
