Electrical Engineer - Interconnection

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Compile interconnection packages for generation projects.
  • Keep track of latest ISO, utility and NERC requirements as applicable to generation projects.
  • Support clients by providing inputs to clients with regards to interconnection processes.
  • Provide recommendations for preliminary sizing of solar PV, wind, and energy storage plants.
  • Experience with tuning dynamic models.
  • Provide expertise in regards to regulatory issues dealing with transmission.
  • Assist in the procurement of projects and marketing as an ambassador for the company.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and/or directed.
  • Other tasks as required.

Required Qualifications, Traits, and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or applicable field of study, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • A Professional Engineering license or EIT is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Experience with ISO/transmission provider (CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, PJM, NE-ISO, amongst others) interconnection processes and requirements.
  • Experience with PSSE, EMS, PSLF, TARA, or other transmission planning software.
  • Experience with model development in multiple regions would be beneficial.
  • Experience with NERC compliance analysis is preferred.
  • Experience with performing steady-state, short circuit, and transient stability analysis is preferred.
  • Experience with performing Sub Synchronous Studies is preferred.
  • Knowledge of performing economic dispatch and congestion studies would be beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Efficient time management – handle multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision including prioritizing, organizing, and planning effectively to meet all deadlines.
