IT Business Analyst

Summary of Internship
Internship positions provide an opportunity for business, engineering and science students to get hands on experience. This Business Analyst (BA) position is a part of IT Corporate Solutions and Integrations (CSI) that supports Global Business Services (GBS) initiatives. GBS organizational objectives include enabling consistency and scale of shared services functions in Thermo Fisher Scientific. Some of the areas in GBS are global sourcing, supply chain, pricing, process improvement, operations, risk management, real estate and security. The Business Analyst acts as a partner to our business team who are solving internal shared service needs and problems. BA’s have a passion for making sure that software, applications, and processes are effectively integrated/adopted within the functions to achieve maximum productivity gains, while meeting the needs of the business and maintaining proper data integrity

Hiring Locations may include but are not limited to Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, California and Maryland.
Crucial Functions:
  • Develop comprehensive understanding business processes as well as a strong working rapport with business users
  • Facilitate the capturing of functional business requirements by collecting, analyzing and detailing the requirements in a way that can be understood by a diverse audience (technical and non-technical alike).
  • Assist in user workshops to define requirements, write use and business cases, and design workflow processes.
  • Serves as the main liaison between the business users and technical teams
  • Work with IT partners to translate requirements into technical specifications
  • Assist team with development of functional test plans and facilitate user acceptance process.
  • Aid in the project management process for projects including scope identification, project planning, and project status reporting
  • Triage issues, ensure issue resolution and raise issues as needed.
  • Perform other operational (configuration) and administrative responsibilities for supported applications
  • Know the latest technology trends and software solution offerings form vendors
Qualifications:
  • Student currently enrolled in classes leading to an accredited Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Preferred majors: Information Systems, Information Security, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science or other related major
  • Strong desire and motivation to develop a career in IT
  • Strong leadership and team building skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-functional team
  • Ability to learn, be mentored, and improve
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is required in performing all functions of this position.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills are required.
  • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status
