IS Compliance Intern

This supervised position will allow for a college student who is seeking a career in Information Technology as well as enhance their knowledge with regard to all aspects of Calpine functions both operationally and financially. This position will require the individual to work a normal day shift. This job will be based out of the Houston, Texas office and may require in-office or work-from-home hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides analysis and technical support to Calpine’s IT Compliance team.

• Assist with compliance support functions including Control framework updates, Archer GRC technical support, vendor risk management, SharePoint management/workflows, etc.

• Interact with business and technical users to assess compliance evidence and provide guidance on process control improvements.

• General IT related experience and knowledge of compliance frameworks SOX, DSA, PCI:DSS, NERC-CIP are all a positive.

Learning Objectives:

• Translate classroom experience into practical application
• Gain working knowledge of major industry standard frameworks
• Learn how Calpine utilizes GRC tool
• Learn how to manage multiple compliance activities
• Learn how to manage vendor contract risks

Job Requirements:
• Pursuing BS or MS in IS or IT at an accredited university or college.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Rising junior, senior or graduate student who has completed coursework related to information system or information technology
• Must possess Microsoft office skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook and OneNote.
• Prior IT internship/work experience related to information security, risk or compliance, preferred.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States now and in the future.
• Must be flexible and able to work harmoniously with others
• Good problem solving and analytical ability
• Good organization skills and attention to details are essential
• Excellent oral, written and communication/presentation skills.

Vaccine Information:
Calpine requires an individual who is newly hired into this position to be vaccinated for COVID-19 within the first 28 days of employment - if not already vaccinated prior to starting employment.
