Postdoctoral Fellow - Structural Biology - Sudhamsu Lab

The Position:
A position is available for a postdoctoral fellow with expertise in protein crystallography and/or cryoEM to join the Department of Structural Biology at Genentech, Inc. We have cutting edge facilities in-house for structural biology (X-ray, NMR & Cryo-EM), protein expression (E. coli, insect & mammalian) for intracellular, extracellular and membrane proteins, with weekly access to synchrotrons and internal access to Talos, Glacios and Krios cryoEM instruments.

Responsibilities:
Active areas of research include the structure and function of protein complexes involved in signaling cascades relevant to human disease. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of structural biology including construct design, expression and purification of proteins, crystallization or cryoEM sample preparation, data collection, structure determination and analysis of protein structures. In addition, the candidate will characterize proteins using various biochemical & biophysical methods and collaborate with colleagues in therapeutic area and core function departments across Genentech to discover molecular mechanisms of signaling in human disease.

Who You Are:
Team player with fearless attitude to tackle longstanding difficult problems in biological signaling using structural biology. Highly motivated and capable of independent work in a collaborative environment. Skillful in handling difficult proteins, strong background in protein production, crystallography and/or CryoEM demonstrated by successful purification, characterization and structure determination of challenging proteins as evidenced by a first author paper published or accepted in a peer-reviewed journal. Familiarity with enzymology, multiple biophysical methods and/or membrane proteins is a plus.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in structural biology, biophysics, biochemistry or a related discipline.
