Director of Operations- Nevada Conservation Corps

The Nevada Conservation Corps (NCC), a program of the Great Basin Institute, provides direct conservation services to public land management agencies throughout Nevada. Founded in 1999, the Corps deploys technically proficient restoration teams to enhance species habitat, mitigate fire threats, reduce the spread of invasive species, and restore and re-designate recreational trails. In doing so, NCC provides valuable training and workforce development opportunities for Corps members who seek careers in natural resource management. The NCC is funded by AmeriCorps, a national service program of the Corporation for National and Community Service.

The Director of Operations (DO) is a key leadership position that supports approximately 25, 5-person AmeriCorps restoration teams across Nevada and California. The DO oversees the logistical and administrative functions of the Corps’ field operations, providing direct oversight of crew coordinators, crew leaders, and team members. The DO collaborates with agency partners to develop conservation projects, assessing project needs and establishing performance targets. The DO strives to improve crew safety while maintaining Quality Assurance for all programmatic elements. The DO offers leadership direction for professional development activities. These tasks require a high level of organization and administrative skills.

Essential functions and duties will include:
• Oversee logistical planning for crew projects including project scheduling
• Supervision, management, training, and coordination of NCC field crews, including NCC’s Leadership Development program
• Communicate regularly with agency partners to ensure quality assurance & agency satisfaction; 
• Monitor project agreement funding balances to ensure funds availability; 
• Coordinate monthly meetings and trainings with crew leaders and support their HR efforts; 
• Facilitates project site visits and in field training with crews;
• Assist in operations and maintenance of field station, equipment, and vehicles; 
• Support NCC weekly staging operations; 
• Assist project partners in developing new projects and drafting budgets and agreements;
• Coordinate with other staff to develop and disseminate standards for evaluations, and conduct crew lead evaluations; 
• Other duties as assigned
