Overview

Under general direction, the Project Billing Accountant will prepare monthly billing and invoices for Federal and Commercial clients based on grants and contracts awarded to the Institute.
 
Will set-up and maintain client billing information in the accounting system; create and prepare invoices for submission to clients; provide analysis between generated revenue, accounts billed and remaining accounts unbilled; review contract documentation to ensure compliance and financial administration; review and prepare labor reports; disseminate weekly and monthly status reports for internal customers; and perform all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.
 
The Project Billing Accountant will also coordinate with other members of the Accounting, Project Management, and Office of Research Contract departments to ensure efficient processing of all duties and tasks; assist in client, internal and other external audits; assist in reconciliations of cash receipts; and create ad hoc reports as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minimum of 2-3 years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
 
Must have a demonstrated understanding of fundamental professional standards and practices utilizing GAAP and various IRS publications, and a general understanding of FAR guidelines and CAS requirements. Must have a demonstrated understanding of fixed asset accounting systems as well as general ledger reconciliation and analysis. Must have the ability to analyze data and perform adjustments on findings. Working knowledge of GAAP. Strong numeracy and analytical skills. Highly organized and detail-oriented.
 
Requires professional-level computer skills and very advanced experience with Excel, as well as the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
 
Must have superior professional-level written and verbal communication skills; a high degree of professionalism and excellent problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability in managing a wide variety of complex tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting multiple deadlines is required. Must have the ability to work independently and as a part of a team as well as the ability to maintain confidential information.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

Deltek Costpoint experience strongly preferred.
