Staff Environmental Scientist

Phase Engineering, Inc. is an environmental consulting firm that is headquartered in Houston, Texas. We are looking to fill an entry level position in our Houston location for a Staff Environmental Scientist. 
 
The Staff Environmental Scientist position may initially include the following aspects:
  • Preparation of figures and documents associated with several types of environmental due diligence projects.
  • Obtain certain project site local / regional specific information immediately after initiation of project including, but not limited to, local zoning information. 
  • Conducting site inspections of properties throughout the state which will require traveling by vehicle or flying as needed. Overnight stays will sometimes be required. Must be able to perform in physically demanding conditions such as rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures.
  • Training and involvement with report preparation of certain facets of environmentally related due diligence reports.
  • Interpret technical information and assist with the preparation of technical report writing.
  • Ongoing Environmental Professional (EP) development and training.
  • Must have a positive attitude, be team-oriented, maintain a strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and execute new tasks.

Requirements associated with this position are as follows:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a science-related field (Environmental Science or Engineering, Geology, Biology, Ecology, Chemistry, etc.).
  • 0-5 years’ experience in conducting environmental site assessments, field work and preparing report documentation.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance (air, water, waste), geosciences (remediation, environmental site assessments, environmental due diligence) and natural resources (NEPA, wetlands, and endangered species).
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Earth and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Knowledge and proficiency is preferred with use of ESRI ArcGIS products.
  • Possess a valid Texas driver’s license and meet company’s auto insurability requirements.
  • Strong technical writing skills are a must.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Be able to work independently during fieldwork.
  • Present a professional appearance on behalf of the firm.
