2021-2022: Oronite Statistician Intern

Chevron Oronite Company LLC is a leading developer, manufacturer, and marketer of performance additives for fuels and lubricating oils. We are a global company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chevron Corporation. Our research is focused on developing additives that control oxidation, friction, wear, viscosity, and deposit formation, and combining these in formulations that effectively lubricate a diverse range of equipment, including gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems used in automobiles, trucks, ships, trains, tractors, and other equipment.  
Chevron Oronite is accepting online applications for the position of Statistician Intern located in:

The Statistician Intern works with research and development scientists and engineers to enable good, data-driven decisions in projects. He/she is a key consultant/advisor for data analysis, evaluations, and recommendations. Responsibilities include: 
  
  • Partnering with the business to identify opportunities to apply statistics, data science, and analytics techniques to achieve business value. 
  • Visualizing data in a meaningful way enabling the business to quickly draw conclusions and make decisions. 
  • Deploying effective statistical analyses, problem solving, data science, analytics, and optimization techniques (e.g., predictive modeling, multivariate methods, hypothesis testing, time series, sample size estimation, simulation, etc.) focused on improving decision making, facilitating exploratory chemistry, validating marketing claims, improving process capability, and developing strategic positions. 
  • Designing, prototyping, creating, testing, maintaining, and supporting analytical solutions and insights. 
 
 
Required Qualifications: 
  • Students pursuing a Doctorate degree in Statistics 
  • Strong academic performance in core programs, communication, leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills are of extreme importance. 
  
 
Relocation Options: 
Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.
