General Description
MEMS is a midstream energy company located in the galleria area of Houston, TX. The Accounting department is seeking an Accounting Intern for a full-time, paid internship during the 2022 summer. The Accounting Intern will gain a better understanding of various Accounting functions and apply their classroom knowledge in a real-world practical setting. Our ideal candidate will generally be flexible and capable of handling a variety of tasks as needed and interested in pursuing a career in Accounting in the midstream oil and gas trading industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- The Accounting Intern will assist the Accounting department with a wide range of duties such as:
- Learn the basic accounting closing such as Bank reconciliation, cash receipts, AR, and AP functions.
- Digitally filing invoices
- Using the Oracle Chart of Accounts to code incoming cash deposits and invoices
- Assist with gathering documents requested for external and internal Auditors
- Fulfill any requested Adhoc Financial Accounting report requests
- Complete special projects as needed and other duties assigned
- Provide general support to the Accounting department
Experience Requirements
- Knowledgeable in Personal Computer hardware and Microsoft Windows operating system.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong technical and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Reliability and willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be available for 12 weeks from May 16 – Aug 5.
Education Requirements
- Must be actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance as a junior, senior or graduate student.
- Completion of Oil and Gas Accounting class is a plus
