Data Management Intern

The Data Management Intern will assist KCE’s Market Operations team with data intake, processing, and storage. In this position, you may:

·       Write parsers that standardize a wide variety of data

·       Expand KCE’s data intake system to handle new sources of data

·       Design database tables to store new data

·       Optimize the performance of existing database tables

·       Perform other data management-related work as needed

A candidate must:

·       Have a strong background in Python

·       Have some experience using SQL

·       Be a motivated self-starter

·       Be comfortable asking questions and learning on-the-fly

The following will be helpful but are not required:

·       A strong SQL background

·       Understanding of good software development principles

·       Understanding of good database design principles

·       Experience with database administration

·       Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, especially tuning and optimization

·       Knowledge of wholesale electricity markets

·       Knowledge of basic electrical physics
