Development and Communications Intern

Fall 2021 Internship

 
Overview: We are hiring a Development and Communications Intern to assist us with program management and social media on Scenic Texas conservation issues. Scenic Texas, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of our state’s visual environment, particularly as seen by the traveling public. We are the only state nonprofit that helps citizens safeguard the scenic qualities of Texas roadways, countryside, and communities. For more information, visit scenictexas.org.
 

Responsibilities:

•      Internship will focus on social media outreach and the Scenic City Certification Program (SCCP)
•      Support meetings related to SCCP including organization, calendar holds, taking notes, and follow ups
•      Create social media posts regarding Scenic Texas and the SCCP
•      Work in CRM for membership and donor development/organization
•      Conduct donor prospect research and support the creation of donor appeals, including social media and online messaging
•      Help to prepare foundation grant applications and update tracking document with progress
•      Additional tasks as assigned by Scenic Texas staff
 

Qualifications:

•      Strong attention to detail
•      Self-motivated and well-organized
•      Excellent research skills
•      Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
•      Motivation to work on substantive scenic conservation topics
•      Knowledge of social media platforms such as, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
•      Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
•      Must possess excellent judgment and discretion
•      Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and complete work independently
•      Graphic design experience or knowledge is a plus
 

Physical demands:

•      Writing and researching for long periods of time on a computer
 
Hours: 10-15 hours per week, hours are flexible.
 
Location: Interns will work remotely.
 
Compensation: This is an unpaid internship, but reimbursement for related transportation and some lunches is offered. Additionally, course credit for work is available.
 
Benefits: Interns will work directly with Scenic Texas staff and have mentorship opportunities with the many accomplished members of our Board of Directors. Interns will have many professional development and networking opportunities and have the opportunity to publish their work in Scenic Texas briefs, newsletters, online communications and website.
