Social Media Internship

The Institute for Diversity and Civic Life (IDCL) is an Austin-based non-profit educational organization with a mission to advance a more inclusive public sphere through storytelling, research, and education.

The Internship position involves social media management, blogging, some graphic design, and
promotions. Responsibilities include growing and engaging our social media following, monitoring news media reports, and writing a weekly or biweekly digest of news and current events related to diversity in Texas. The intern may also assist with oral history projects, including transcribing, summarizing, and identifying metadata for interviews. This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in communications, writing, and journalism as well as religious and cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion. The intern will work with IDCL’s Director and gain a deeper understanding of topics connected to our mission as well as an opportunity to develop communication, writing, and research skills. The position involves an average of 10 - 15 hours per week and is remote.

Qualified applicants are strong writers and have knowledge of social media. Some experience with WordPress and Canva is also helpful.

Students are eligible to apply to this internship for course credit. Please send a resume and cover letter describing your experience, skills, and interest in the position to Tiffany Puett at tiffany@diversityandciviclife.org.
