Computational Scientist
Basic Function
Aramco Americas is seeking a computational scientist to design, lead, and execute projects to develop next-generation reservoir simulator software technology. The computational scientist will work with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement cutting-edge algorithms for reservoir simulation.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and develop scientific software
- Design and implement fluid modeling packages in new and existing simulator frameworks
- Work with parent company (Saudi Aramco) technical experts to establish technical requirements for software
- Attend scientific conferences and read technical publications to maintain up-to-date knowledge of computational modeling
- Author technical reports, articles, and patents
- Make and deliver technical presentations within Aramco Americas and Saudi Aramco, as well as at outside technical conferences
- Represent Aramco Americas & Saudi Aramco effectively to external organizations
Experience & Education
- Masters or PhD in engineering, computer science or mathematics is preferred; training including appropriate specialized courses and seminars is expected (0-5 years of post-degree experience is optimal; higher experience also considered)
- Strong background in fluid flow physics and modeling, including phase behavior, thermodynamics, and porous media flow
- Background in scientific computing utilizing C++, Fortran, Python, or MATLAB
- Knowledge of numerical methods for partial differential equations
- Background in machine learning is a plus
- Familiarity with software development toolchain (e.g. build systems, unit testing, continuous integration, version control, debugging and profiling tools)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
