Bridge Design CAD Technician

Bridge Design CAD Technician – Lenexa, Kansas

GBA is looking for a Bridge Design Computer-Aided-Design (CAD) Technician to join our growing Transportation Group in our Lenexa (KC Metro) headquarters. Our experts work with municipal, county and DOT clients. In addition to traditional design-bid-build projects, our team has experience in design-build projects, both in municipal services and for the DOTs.  Our Bridge Group is a cohesive and flexible group of engineers who are dedicated to the profession and work well in a team environment. They are highly trained with experience in both bridge design and inspection. GBA provides a complete solution for bridge projects including design, comprehensive inspections, load-ratings, bridge management, and GIS mapping for our clients.

For this position, we are looking for someone to work alongside our bridge design engineers to develop construction documents. A successful candidate will have previous experience detailing and/or reading bridge construction drawings. This role will suit a self-motivated individual with a high attention to detail and enjoys working in a team environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Produce drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphic representations of engineering designs using CAD software on bridge projects 
  • Perform routine drafting assignments requiring application of standardized drawing techniques
  • Perform basic quantity and geometry calculations
  • Work may also entail site investigations and inspections in the field

Requirements: 
  • Associate degree in Drafting Technology
  • 0-3 Years’ experience utilizing CAD skills in a professional setting
  • Previous experience detailing and/or reading bridge construction plans is a plus
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation and AutoCAD preferred
  • Experience with ProjectWise and KDOT or MoDOT standards is a plus
  • Knowledge of creating bridge plans and alternative delivery experience a plus
  • Possess effective communication skills, both written and oral
  • Possess an attitude and commitment to quality
  • Desire to collaborate with other engineers and specialists in a team environment
