POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position will be responsible for assisting with statistical analyses and developing hydrologic models to make a difference in protecting the water quality and ecology of Austin’s streams.

A certain amount of creativity is required in choosing appropriate models and analyses. In addition, this position will require familiarity with experimental design and computer programming programs, such as R, MatLab, SQL, and/or Python. This position will also require interaction with various scientists and engineers, as well as the ability to convey scientific thought in the form of oral and/or written communication.

This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending on qualifications:

GRADUATE ENGINEER A:
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job.

GRADUATE ENGINEER B:
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a related field, plus two (2) years of experience in engineering. A Texas Engineer–In-Training Certification is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Familiarity with environmental statistics or data analysis.
  • Familiarity with computer programming and software, such as R, MatLab, SQL, and/or Python.
  • Creativity in addressing statistical problems.
