Job Description

We are looking for a full-time Market Associate, North American Power to join Wood Mackenzie’s North American Power (NAP) team in Edinburgh, Scotland. The NAP team’s research spans power market fundamentals and price forecasting, to asset valuation and strategy that comprises some of the most highly utilized data, reports and insights across Wood Mackenzie. Our broad industry knowledge and deep insight into the North American power market is unparalleled and helps our clients’ position for success during the energy transition.
The Market Associate will have a strong background in analytics and growing expertise within the power industry.
Market Associate Core Responsibilities:
  • Daily support of tools and models that include spatial, data visualization, and power flow applications to identify and solve problems in the power industry;
  • Prepare client-facing content on a timely and accurate basis;
  • Ensure the highest standards of data quality and availability are met and maintained for use by the team and broader organization;
  • Liaise with developers and data collection teams to improve efficiency and expand analytical capabilities;
  • Run regional support workbooks daily and continuously improve the level of granularity provided to the team and customer;
  • Manipulate large datasets and determine correlations and relationships between potential market drivers, prices, and events;
  • Improve current processes by automating critical tasks using macros (visual basic/Python);
  • Develop understanding of energy market fundamentals to further improve analytical capabilities and occasionally interact with clients via phone, email, or other appropriate means.
