Graphic Design Student Assistant - Available for Work Study and Non-Work Study Students

JOB SUMMARY: The Marketing & Communications department at Texas Performing Arts is looking for a self-starter with a passion for great design and an interest in live events and the performing arts. We’re in search of qualified candidates to assist the Sr. Graphic Designer with the day-to-day graphic design needs (digital and print) of the department including, but not limited to: banners, posters, brochures, posters, flyers, house programs, signage, email templates, print and web advertising.

Estimated Hours per Week: 10-15

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Study and absorb the Texas Performing Arts Brand Guidelines and Style Guide to understand how we communicate our message across various platforms and different types of media.
  • Assist Sr. Graphic Designer in the localization of tour ad mats, artist photos and other materials for use on Texas Performing Arts’ website, social media accounts and other digital properties.
  • Help brainstorm on the ‘look and feel’ of intuitional marketing campaigns.
  • Research all artists appearing at Texas Performing Arts; attend and contribute to Marketing & Communications meetings as needed.
  • Work with Hook ’em Arts and provide design support for their efforts as needed.
  • Attend periodic Hook ‘em Arts meetings.
  • Represent Texas Performing Arts with a pleasant and professional demeanor through all interactions.
  • Arrive on time for work and maintain a reliable attendance record. Dress appropriately for work in a casual, yet professional environment. 
 
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Great eye for design.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Mainly InDesign and Photoshop).
  • Working knowledge of Mac OS and Microsoft Office.
  • A valid Texas driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Current pursuit of a Graphic Design, Art, Communications, Illustration, Advertising or Marketing/Communications degree.

 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Website maintenance experience.
  • Active involvement with Hook ‘em Arts.
  • Ability to take initiative.
  • Working knowledge of additional applications within the Adobe Creative Cloud (Dreamweaver, Premier Pro, After Effects etc) is a plus, but not required.
