Database Creation for USGS Lost Cemetery Project

INTERNSHIP JOB DESCRIPTION:
Seeking an intern with knowledge in statistics and data science, computer science, or geographic information science to create a basic database to 1) impose consistent work flow to guide data entry and standardize research methods, and 2) move data from an existing spreadsheet (roughly 300 lines x 10 columns) into the new database. Preferably, the intern would have an interest in anthropology, history, or related fields as well. The intern must have the requisite skillset to create a database from scratch and apply existing Excel data to the new spreadsheet. 
Complies with all agency Internship Program Policies and Procedures.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
Please provide a written description of no more than three databases that you have created and describe their functions. We may ask to see examples.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Rudimentary understanding of Google Earth and other online aerial imagery providers, online archival research, the Office Suite and particularly Excel, and map-reading.
 
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Upper class undergraduate or graduate student in statistics and data science, computer science, or geographic information science. Alternatively, an upper class undergraduate or graduate student anthropology, history, or related fields with strong background in data management.
