About this Position

At Texas Mutual, we're creating a stronger, safer Texas. Here, you will use your technical skills to develop and maintain applications related to our Enterprise Data Platform. Join one of the best companies to work for in Texas, reporting to the Chief Data Office. Located in the Mueller development, we offer modern sit/stand workstations, free on-site fitness center, and free garage parking. Our employees can work from home two days a week with the remainder spent collaborating together in the office. You'll also have the opportunity to work from anywhere in the U.S. for two weeks each year, in addition to vacation, personal and sick time.


Responsibilities & Qualifications
Essential Job Functions:
  • Use technical skills to develop enterprise data, analytics, and business intelligence tools and services as part of a hybrid cloud architecture
  • Consult with users to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications
  • Contribute to the development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing or modification of cloud solutions, including prototypes
  • Use infrastructure-as-code tools to develop cloud solutions
  • Develop and administer cloud database platforms along with related storage and services
  • Use DevOps best practices for the development and ongoing maintenance of our data platform codebase
  • Automate routine maintenance tasks
  • Train other staff and end-users on application functionality
  • Help migrate tools from legacy systems to AWS
  • Work with management to analyze and maintain technology strategies

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Less than 2 years of professional data experience
  • Experience with one or more programming languages
  • Experience with relational databases
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the skills necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or Go
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Experience with Snowflake, SQL Server, or other relational databases
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry
