Country: United States
City: New York

Job Description

About Deutsche Bank:

Deutsche Bank is the leading German bank with strong European roots and a global network. We’re driving growth through our strong client franchise. Against a backdrop of increasing globalization in the world economy, Deutsche Bank is very well-positioned, with significant regional diversification and substantial revenue streams from all the major regions of the world. We serve our clients’ real economic needs in commercial banking, investment banking, private banking and asset management. We are investing heavily in digital technologies, prioritizing long term success over short-term gains, and serving society with ambition and integrity. All this means a career packed with opportunities to grow and the chance to shape the future of our clients.

 The Deutsche Bank Internship programme:

At Deutsche Bank, we’re changing what it means to be a bank. We’re looking for creative thinkers who are ready to make a difference from day one. On our internship, you’ll experience what life is like on our Graduate Programme and start developing the skills you need to succeed in finance. You’ll be supported to immediately take on real responsibility on real projects, start building your network and learn from senior leaders across our business. You’ll also see how important diversity and inclusion are to our business and what it means in reality. If you’re looking for a head start in your finance career, this is your chance to learn first-hand how and what we deliver for clients from colleagues leading the industry.

 About the business division:

Deutsche Bank Research is responsible for economic and financial analysis within Deutsche Bank Group and covers asset allocation and all major industry sectors. We analyse relevant trends for the bank in financial markets, the economy and society, highlight risks and opportunities and act as consultant for the bank, its clients and stakeholders. Deutsche Bank Research delivers high-quality, independent analysis and actively promotes public debate on economic, fiscal, labour market and social policy issues.

The Company Research & Sales team sits within Deutsche Bank Research and looks to provide our clients with detailed financial analysis and recommendations on whether to buy, hold, or sell an equity investment. You will be assisting asset managers in deciding which stocks to invest in within specific sectors. This involves formulation of stock and sector-level investment theses, ongoing authoring and production of written research to promote investment views and marketing of those views to internal and external clients. You will leverage relationships with companies under coverage as part of channel checks and due diligence efforts, while also organising ad hoc road-shows, client events and conferences.

Division specific about the intern role:

Upon joining the Bank you will begin your learning journey with our regional orientation, followed by professional skills training and technical financial training.

Working on our day-to-day business as well as on special research projects, you will contribute to the development of new ideas for helping our customers achieve their financial goals. The projects you work on will require your interpretative skills, an instinct for trends and innovations, and an ability to work independently, although you’ll benefit from intensive mentoring and structured feedback.

From day one, you’ll be exposed to real market issues impacting companies. You will also contribute to our research publications and be involved in the creation of investment strategies, tools or models. Your learning curve will be steep, but you’ll have plenty of support and guidance from managers and mentors.

The specific tasks that you deal with will depend on your role within the team. You will be trained by the best, evolve professionally as well as personally, and build a firm foundation upon which to specialise later.

 What we look for:

We recruit highly intelligent interns who are committed and adaptable. They have degrees in many different disciplines. Even though good levels of numeracy are important for some roles, you won’t necessarily need a formal mathematical or financial background. We have very comprehensive training programmes that will give you all the technical knowledge you’ll need to build a career with us. Above all, we’re looking for entrepreneurial people who thrive best in a diverse culture where innovation and agile thinking abound.

You should not only be passionate about the world of finance, but also show a keen interest in your chosen field. You already have a record of outstanding academic achievement and you’re eager to go on learning at the same intensive rate. So you’ll thrive on working in a highly collaborative environment with some of the best minds in banking.
