AmeriCorps VISTA - Saint Joseph's College of Maine

This position will assist the justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) Work Group, the Academic Center for Excellence, and the Student Financial Services Office to strengthen and expand existing academic, social, and financial support systems. They will work with faculty and students to identify, and develop new programs to address gaps in student support for low-income, first-generation, and BIPOC students. The member will connect programs that promote retention of students with programs supporting the recruitment of diverse students. This work will include the assembly and output of a student body survey focused on understanding the unmet needs of low-income, first-generation, and students of color, the establishment of focus groups to follow-up on the survey, outreach to peer institutions in order to understand their best practices, and the creation of a guidebook outlining best methods for programming and practices to support rising scholars at Saint Joseph’s.
