Who We Are:

AstraZeneca’s Bio-Pharmaceutical Development (BPD) department consists of scientists, engineers, mathematicians and project managers whose ambition is to transform biologic molecules into life-changing medicines.

Through this Rotational Associates Programme you’ll gain experience in the development of manufacturing processes and dosage forms for BioPharmaceutical products – everything from molecule discovery to packaging the final product.

Programme participants work on challenging technical projects supporting the development of protein therapeutics in the areas of Cell Culture and Fermentation, Purification, Analytics and Protein Characterization, Formulation, Delivery Devices, Clinical Logistics and Manufacturing. 

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The BPD RAP is a two-year program comprised of three 8-month rotational assignments in different functions of the BPD department.
  • The rotational assignments are carefully tailored to enable growth and development of the program participants and provide them with both technical skills as well as a broad drug development understanding.
  • Participants will work on challenging technical projects supporting the development of protein therapeutics in the areas of Cell Culture and Fermentation, Purification, Analytics and Protein Characterization, Formulation, Delivery Devices, Clinical Logistics and Manufacturing.

Education & Experience Requirements:

Recent Bachelors and/or Masters graduates with 0-2 years work experience. (Gained through Internships/Co ops or placement years)

Required Skills:

  • Study subject: Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Bioengineering, Biomedical, Chemical Engineering or other related field.
  • Strong academic performance
  • Passion for science and a strong interest in drug development as a career

Desired Skills:

  • Previous internships/co-op in pharma
  • Research experience at university/college
  • Demonstrated leadership (clubs, etc.)
  • High academic achievement (at least 3.0 GPA)
